Challah Decorating

My friend Jill just tried my challah recipe and added a wonderful twist! She decorated the rolls with a combination of black and white sesame seeds! I'm posting her picture here for all of you to see. The black sesame seeds are a bit harder to find, but they are a wonderful touch. (You can also try poppy, if you like the taste.)

Jill's challahs. The one on the right has all black sesame
seeds. The one in middle is a mix of black and white.

Do you decorate your challah or leave it unadorned? Share your tips here.

  1. Looks so good, how do you decide what loaf to dig into first?

  2. I've only ever done it brushed with egg wash. But a seed topping sounds good!

Thanks for stopping by my blog--I love getting new visitors!

    Blessings in the new year,

  3. The photos are not there, presently. If I leave this for a while, they will appear. I will have to check back.

My daughter has experimented with challah for years and even made chocolate chip challah (I think only once.) Not for me but the kids love it.

I am not a fan of seeds so I prefer the egg wash.

  4. I have photos now and I choose the one with both. I think, I would like it with just poppy seeds for appearance.

  5. Thanks, Sweet and Savory. I also usually opt for just the egg wash. My kids are kind of picky about seeds, and I don't feel really strongly about them. Thanks for visiting and commenting!

  6. I am also Comfy Cook, Rivki. I have two blogs. Both are kosher, of course, and Comfy is gluten free. My Sweet and Savory is free of gluten and gets most of the dessert recipes.
